If God prevented Evil he’d interfere with free will
Instead he sent Jesus to restore our corrupted desires.
A common objection to the bible is the presence of evil, contradicting Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that he had made and that it was very good.”
When Darwin bought into the ancient philosophy of evolution he hated God for using such a cruel method to create the world. This is the danger of putting human wisdom before the wisdom of our infinite God. The Bible presents numerous testable claims that have withstood the conspiracy against it, including a creation 6,000 years ago and a destructive flood 4,400 years ago that rapidly busied fossils and produced most geographic features.
The Bible describes the origins of evil in the story of Adam and Eve eating from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in Genesis 3. This story is remembered in other ancient stories such as the Greek’s Pandora’s box.
The apocryphal book, The Life of Adam and Eve describes that Satan dwelled in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Perhaps it was for this reason that they should not go near it – because Satan was there waiting to trick them. God’s command was keeping them from evil. The ultimate consequence thereof is death.
Genesis 3:2 The woman answered the snake, “We’re allowed to eat the fruit from any tree in the garden 3 except the tree in the middle of the garden. God said, ‘You must never eat it or touch it. If you do, you will die!’”
In Genesis 3:15 God says “I will make you and the woman hostile toward each other. I will make your descendants and her descendant hostile toward each other. He will crush your head, and you will bruise his heel.”
In God’s judgement he promises that Eve’s descendant will crush evil. Jesus is that descendant.
Romans 8:22 We know that all creation has been groaning with the pains of childbirth up to the present time.
These groanings are the consequences of our sin. God made Adam the CEO of all creation. All creation was under his command. When the CEO fell to corruption, this cascaded through his entire command. Through Adam’s sin, all creation has become corrupt as expressed in all kinds of evil.
God will eventually destroy all evil and all those who have not been restored to him through Jesus. He will create a new perfect creation, which would become corrupted if he allowed any corrupted person to dwell there. A boss is obliged to warn and eventually remove a disruptive employee lest the company be for the preservation of the company. Likewise, God is warning us and providing the means to correct our behavior through Jesus.
John 3:16 God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.
