Only the Pure will enter Heaven
1 Corinthians 6:9 Don’t you know that wicked people won’t inherit God’s kingdom? Stop deceiving yourselves! People who continue to commit sexual sins, who worship false gods, those who commit adultery, homosexuals, 10 or thieves, those who are greedy or drunk, who use abusive language, or who rob people will not inherit God’s kingdom. 11 That’s what some of you were! But you have been washed and made holy, and you have received God’s approval in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
If you have sex with anyone but your wife/husband you forfeit Heaven. If anyone preaches otherwise, they are not preaching the bible. That’s the bad news, but look again: “11 That’s what some of you were!” Note the past tense. Some of the people Paul wrote to, abused sex outside of God’s very good intentions, but their Heaven has been restored. I’m concerned about the number of people who think and even teach that it’s ok: “don’t let them kid you”. Some serve in the church in spite of their rebellion in the bedroom. I too fell to such temptation. Others out of a sense of integrity stay away from church. Precisely this is the dilemma God faced when Adam and Eve hid from him. We have all “eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” which makes us hide from God. God hates this guilt that we experience because it makes us run away from his love. God wants to forgive and restore us to him. This requires that we be open about our faults and seek godly help to put things right. For me I needed to confess to a couple of godly mates and ask them to help me through this. Since then, I’ve been rapidly growing in knowledge and relationship with God, catching up for the years I wasted in my indulgence.
The old testament law demonstrates the seriousness of sexual immorality, typically demanding death – that such practices do not infest the nation to its demise. Such laws are specific to Israel as a condition of their vassalage to God, although many nations have independently had similar laws because of the relational damage caused by the abuse of sex.
If you are living in sin, you must choose between its continuance to Hell or restoration to Heaven. The consequences of this choice will follow you in this life and the next. If you are both unmarried, stop playing around and make a permanent commitment to each other. Exodus 22:16 “Whenever a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to anyone and has sexual intercourse with her, he must pay the bride-price and marry her.”
If your partner is married, stop playing around stealing from another person. If you truly love them you will help them be restored to their marriage.
If you are married, stop playing around and remember your true love that you promised to accompany ‘till death.
If you’re finding marriage tough, pick someone to be your friend to help you through this – we weren’t made to solve all of our problems on our own. (ooohh pick me, pick me! 😉 )
If you’re being abused, retreat to safety (my house) and get help.
If you’re divorced you should restore to each other what you promised.
However if either has remarried you should not return to your previous spouse. Deuteronomy 24 Otherwise you should remain single lest you commit adultery, which will affect your health and prosperity.
If you really can’t control your desires it would be the lesser evil to marry another than to submit to general promiscuity, but this will inhibit your spiritual authority and God’s blessings.
Whatever situation you’re in, you will find the church is there to embrace you unconditionally. They might not be so good at giving you the kick in the pants that you really need, but will support you in your endevor to grow closer to God and your spouse – whatever that may require.
Matthew 19:3 Some Pharisees came to test him. They asked, “Can a man divorce his wife for any reason?”
4 Jesus answered, “Haven’t you read that the Creator made them male and female in the beginning 5 and that he said, ‘That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and will remain united with his wife, and the two will be one’? 6 So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, don’t let anyone separate what God has joined together.” 7 The Pharisees asked him, “Why, then, did Moses order a man to give his wife a written notice to divorce her?”
8 Jesus answered them, “Moses allowed you to divorce your wives because you’re heartless. It was never this way in the beginning. 9 I can guarantee that whoever divorces his wife for any reason other than her unfaithfulness is committing adultery if he marries another woman.”
10 The disciples said to him, “If that is the only reason a man can use to divorce his wife, it’s better not to get married.”
11 He answered them, “Not everyone can do what you suggest. Only those who have that gift can. 12 For example, some men are celibate because they were born that way. Others are celibate because they were castrated. Still others have decided to be celibate because of the kingdom of heaven. If anyone can do what you’ve suggested, then he should do it.”
I pray that this is helpful
