7000 years

Could the story of creation be a prophecy of the history of space-time as we know it?

Considering 2 Peter 3:8’s “One day with the Lord is like a thousand years” provides an interesting perspective.

There’s been around 6000 years since creation and Christ will rule for 1000 years – yet future.

Exodus 12:40 says Israel was in Egypt for 430 years. 1 Kings 6:1 adds 480 to the founding of Solomon temple. Chronicles distributes 345 years of Solomon’s line until the Babylonian invasion around 586 BC. = 4141 years BC.
• Dr Ken Johnson’s timeline places creation at 3925BC
• Revelation 20:4 states that Christ will rule for 1000 years.

There is much uncertainty in such dates, which should be considered as a ballpark figure.

On the seventh day God rested. In the final 1000 years, creation will rest under Christ’s rule.
“The last days” is a weird expression because it includes the past 2000 years. But one could say that Thursday to Saturday are the last days of the week.

The book of Enoch prophecies 10 weeks of centuries (10 x 7 x 100 = 7000 years)

According to Dr Ken Johnson, early church fathers thought that Christ would return around 6000AM (after creation), i.e. 2075AD.

Sir Isaac Newton says “The time times & half time do not end before 2060. …. It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner. This I mention not to assert when the time of the end shall be, but to put a stop to the rash conjectures of fancifull men who are frequently predicting the time of the end, & by doing so bring the sacred prophesies into discredit as often as their predictions fail. Christ comes as a thief in the night, & it is not for us to know the times & seasons which God hath put into his own breast.“

This does not mean that the rapture could not occur today, in which case the time of the gentiles / the church age would end and God’s focus could return to Israel for some decades. I find it more tangible to warn people that they could die suddenly than that the rapture could come any moment. I believe many people have experienced death as their own rapture:

• As Stephen was executed in Acts 7:56, he said, “Look, I see heaven opened and the Son of Man in the position of authority that God has given him!“
• My grandfather reacted to a vision on his deathbed with a glowing smile, lifting his hands implying “beam me up”.

One could try to match biblical events with creation events, but I see nothing obvious apart from the 1000 years rest. Some interpret 1000 years simply as a very long time e.g. Psalms 50:10 the Lord owns the cattle on 1000 hills. Vainly attempting to overlay creation days over history:

1. Around 1000AM, the book of Enoch expounds upon Genesis 6:4’s angels reproducing with women. Perhaps this was a separation of light and dark.
2. Around 2000AM Abraham was called as a special people – a separation of waters above from waters below.
3. Around 3000AM, David’s kingdom is established – a separation of land from waters
4. Around 4000AM, Christ became the great light with many lesser lights illuminating the darkness.
5. Around 5000AM, the world around the Roman empire knew Christianity.
6. Today, most of the world is filled with the life of the gospel and we expect Christ to return any moment.
7. 1000 years remain.

I think this is a bit contrived, but perhaps someone has worked it out in detail. What’s significant is Exodus 34:21“Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest.”

While it’s fun to speculate on the return of Christ and the end of the world, we must be mindful that 2000 years ago, the experts got it very wrong. Past ages are littered with failed predictions. The purpose of Bible prophecy is not so that I can say “I told you so”, but rather so that God can say “I told you so”. It’s much more valuable to present the dozens of prophecies fulfilled in the past century around the rebirth of Israel and technological advancements that make sense of prophecy such as the whole world watching events unfolding in real time.

We must be careful when imposing current events on biblical prophecy. Through the ages, because Satan does not know the time of the end, he has always had a candidate ready to be “the beast” e.g. Nero, Mohammed, Stalin, Hitler. Currently end timzers chant an increase in earthquakes and other natural disasters and human tragedies as the birth pains before the end gives birth. A graph of 5pt+ earthquakes is used to show an increase, whereas graphing 6pt+ does not. Global warming seems a similar farce pushed by evolutionists and political power-agendas. Many quote Isaiah 17‘s destruction of Damascus as imminent, but ignore its fulfillment in 732BC or northern Israel’s co-obliteration by the Assyrians. The currently forming military alliance in Syria and protesters thereof match many names in Ezekiel 38-39, but lack others such as Libya, Sudan and Germany (Gomer). Genesis 20’s listing of Noah’s grandchildren provides the key to these ancient Hebrew country names as elaborated in Jubilees 8 and Wikipedia’s Generations of Noah.
